Championship new boys eager to make an impact

Peterborough United's director of football Barry Fry says the club will spend £1million on new signings after promotion to the Championship. Posh have already been active in the transfer market since the end of last season after bringing in Toumani Diagouraga and Tommy Rowe. Lee Frecklington has also completed a permanent move to London Road, while a Premier League defender is due to arrive on loan. Fry admits that, by the time manager Darren Ferguson has completed his summer recruitment drive, Peterborough's outlay could reach seven figures. "To say we are spending close to a million pounds this summer is no exaggeration," Fry told the Evening Telegraph. "Hardly any clubs will be spending money this summer and even fewer have done it in May and June like ourselves. "We don't want to find ourselves in auctions with other clubs and end up having to pay over the odds. "The manager comes up with his targets and the chairman told me to go and get them straight away."
