Barca president hopes striker ends career at Camp Nou
Barcelona president Joan Laporta hopes that striker Samuel Eto'o will finish his career at Camp Nou.
The Catalan giants were expected to cash in on the 28-year-old this summer with reports linking a number of clubs around Europe with some astronomical bids for the player.
However the Cameroon international remains a Barca player despite Manchester City, Manchester United and Inter Milan being linked with a move for the frontman.
Eto'o knows that a move away from Barca would see his wages increase considerably but after scoring 30 league goals last season, Laporta is desperate to sit the player down and negotiate a new deal, with his current contract set to expire next summer.
"Eto'o is the best striker in the world, highly valued in the market. It would be nice if he could finish his career at Barca," he told the
club's official website.
"Eto'o's contract ends next season and that requires us to sit and talk. The club wants him to continue for many more years, always in line with our wage structure."
