Wolves defender confident he can succeed in Premier League

Wolves defender George Elokobi is confident he can hold his own in the Premier League despite having never tested himself at the top level before. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a rags-to-riches tale to the top after beginning his career with non-league Dulwich Hamlet of the Ryman Division One South in 2003. The full-back was snapped up by Colchester United a year later and was immediately loaned out to League Two outfit Chester City. Having eventually established himself at Colchester the Cameroon born ace moved to Molineux in January 2008 and he now has his sights on playing at all levels of English football following Wolves' promotion to the Premier League. "Like I said George Elokobi is ready for the Premier League," he told Sky Sports News. "I have tested myself at League Two, League One and tested myself at non-league and tested myself in the Championship. "Bring on the Premier League, I am ready and I am confident I can hold my own in the Premier League."

Point to prove

With many tipping Mick McCarthy's young side to struggle this season Elokobi insists the team aim to prove they are not out to just make up the numbers. "We are going to work extremely hard to make sure we have a good crack in the Premier League," he added. "Everyone is working towards that at the club and hopefully we are going to surprise a few people. "We are not just coming for the show we are coming to stay in the Premier League and make sure we finish as high as we can."
