Stavrinou signs one-year deal at The Valley

Promising midfielder Alex Stavrinou has signed his first professional contract with Charlton Athletic. The youngster was told back in February that he would make the step up from the club's academy and he has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal. A Cyprus youth international, Stavrinou was converted from a centre-back to a central midfielder by Under 16s coach Steve Avory. He has since gone on to flourish in that role, making a total of 22 appearances for the U18s last season and also playing 12 times for the club's reserve team. He could now be set to feature in manager Phil Parkinson's first-team squad next season as Charlton attempt to earn an immediate return to the Championship.
