Gunners ace hoping to get the nod up front

Theo Walcott suspects he will play up front for England in their European Under-21 Championship final against Germany on Monday. Stuart Pearce has a striking crisis ahead of the game in Malmo with Gabriel Agbonlahor and Fraizer Campbell both suspended. Walcott has played up front before, although injury has curtailed his involvement in that role for Arsenal over the past 12 months. Even if Walcott fails to get the nod up front by Pearce he will not mind where he plays as long as he makes the starting XI.

"I probably will end up being a striker," Walcott said. "The boss at Arsenal said I would have probably played little bit more up front last season if I'd not got injured, like in FA Cup games and Carling Cup games. "But I'll play anywhere as long as I'm on that pitch." Meanwhile, Walcott has conceded his Under-21 team-mates cannot wait for the final in Sweden following their epic shoot-out success.
Can't wait
England threw away a three-goal lead to the hosts in the semis before progressing 5-4 in the dreaded penalty shoot-out. "We can't wait for the final now," he continued. "We have two days to recover and prepare, and everyone will be buzzing. "We have 23 players in the squad who have been fantastic throughout the tournament. "And we finally won a penalty shootout. People are quite surprised, but we've been practising and all the lads were confident."
