Abbott holds 'very positive' talks with Pools winger

Carlisle United are hoping to complete the signing of Hartlepool United winger Matty Robson on a free transfer. Robson has turned down a new contract with Pools and has held talks with Carlisle boss Greg Abbott over a move to Brunton Park. Swindon Town had also shown an interest after former Pools manager Danny Wilson confirmed he had enquired about signing Robson. However, Abbott was pleased with the progress of negotiations and is optimistic of being able to conclude a deal in the coming days. "I spoke with Matt and his agent and they were both very positive," Abbott told the club's official website. "We left it at a very good point, so we would expect to have something more on that one by Tuesday or Wednesday. "What we don't want to do is say that a deal is done because, as we have seen before, anything can happen, but we parted on good terms and we could have something more to say on it very early this week."
