Defender says it was not his choice to move on
Notts County new boy Graeme Lee admits it was not his choice to move on from Bradford City.
The defender has signed a two-year contract with County after cost-cutting measures prompted his exit from Valley Parade.
Though he is looking forward to the challenge with his new club, Lee insists he was not pushing for a transfer.
However, Bradford's financial situation has forced manager Stuart McCall to trim the wage bill and make several players available for transfer.
"It's been a long summer and certainly not what I expected," Lee told the
Telegraph & Argus.
"One week everything was up in the air about whether Stuart McCall was coming or going and I was phoning him up begging him to stay.
"The next the club were asking us to go and find somewhere else. Nobody saw it coming, but these things do happen in football.
"It was never my choice to leave. Until all this happened, I was looking forward to coming back next season and playing my part in hopefully making up for the disappointment of missing promotion."
