Highly-rated Gunners youngster signs long-term deal with club

Jack Wilshere has signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal 24 hours after Aaron Ramsey committed his future to the club. The 17-year-old made his Gunners debut back in September in a 4-0 win at Blackburn when he was just 16 before going on to make eight appearances in total last term. The youngster is highly rated by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger after some standout displays in the reserves and youth teams. The Frenchman used the Stevenage-born ace mainly in the Carling Cup last season where his performances belied his young age. Wilshere even managed to score his first goal for the club in only his second outing against Sheffield United in the League Cup at Emirates Stadium in September. Wilshere operates as a creative midfielder behind the forwards although he has mostly appeared on either flank for the Gunners' reserve and first team.
