Sky Sports' survey to find the best player ever to wear a Huddersfield Town shirt is reaching a conclusion - and now is the time to cast your vote.
Sky Sports' survey to find the best player ever to wear a Huddersfield Town shirt is reaching a conclusion - and we would like you to get involved. We asked fans of each of the 92 English League teams and Scottish Premier League sides to nominate their all-time favourite footballers. Short-lists have now been compiled from those selections for each club and you can now cast your votes for your all-time great. If you look back to the late 60s and early 70s, players such as Jimmy Nicholson and Frank Worthington lit up the Leeds Road terraces. Both players were part of the second division title winning side that went on to play two seasons in the top flight. Nowadays, the name on the tip of everyone's tongues when talking about Huddersfield is Andy Booth, the loyalty shown by a professional footballer to one club is rarely seen in the modern game. Booth made 452 appearances for the club, scoring 150 goals. Iain Dunn is a cult hero at the Galpharm Stadium, not only because of his part in Warnock's second division play-off winning side, but his ability to produce a moment of class when Town needed it, earns him a place in the fans hearts. "...He's got no hair but we don't care... Iain Iain Dunn!". When the Terriers bought Marcus Stewart for a club record of £1.2m in 1996, they signed a Premier League quality striker. His record of 58 goals in 133 appearances rightly puts him up among Town's all-time greats. Two all-time greats of British football were born in the blue and white stripes; both Denis Law and Ray Wilson began their careers with the club. Huddersfield took their raw talent and turned Law into a legendary striker and Wilson into a World Cup winning left-back. To make your selection please complete the attached poll and we will collate the results. Once all votes are cast we will reveal the winners ahead of the 2009/10 season and crown Town's greatest-ever player!
