Alex McLeish expects the finishing touches to the Lee Bowyer deal to be completed shortly.
Blues boss confirms midfielder is close to making permanent move
Alex McLeish has confirmed that he expects the finishing touches to the Lee Bowyer deal to Birmingham will be completed in the next few days.
The 32-year-old was instrumental in helping the Blues book their place in the Premier League last season while on-loan from West Ham.
The midfielder played 17 times following his arrival in January as the Midlands club gained automatic promotion from the Championship.
McLeish has been busy in the transfer market with Bowyer set to be the club's seventh signing of the summer.
"I don't know if the Is or the Ts have been formally dotted and crossed but Lee has pledged his allegiance to Birmingham," he said.
"He will become a permanent Birmingham player and a worthy addition to our squad. He did well for us last season."
Backing
After heavily investing in reinforcements to his backline and strike-force McLeish has promised Blues fans to expect more new arrivals before the start of the season, with the Scot keen to add to his midfield.
"I have several names in mind for the crucial midfield positions," he added.
"I know what I am looking for in the team and the board have pledged their support to back me in this."
