Liverpool reserve-team boss succeeds Gannon
Stockport have announced that Gary Ablett is to succeed Jim Gannon as the manager of the club.
Gannon was made redundant in May after the Hatters went into administration and he then made the move to SPL side Motherwell.
A number of names have been linked with the Edgeley Park post in recent weeks, including Andy Ritchie and Neil Lennon.
But Ablett has been given the nod, with the former defender leaving his position as Liverpool's reserve-team manager to take the reins at Stockport.
"Gary has a fantastic pedigree, having enjoyed a career at the very highest level and he has a big reputation for the quality of his coaching at Liverpool and Everton over the last few years," Jim Melrose told the club's
official website.
Melrose is leading the consortium poised to complete a takeover of Stockport in the next day or two.
Stockport, who finished 18th in League One last season, begin their new campaign with a trip to Oldham on 8th August.
