Reports in the Spanish press have linked West Brom with a move for Hercules midfielder Francisco Farinos.
The one-time Spain international has enjoyed a well travelled career having plied his trade at Valencia, Inter Milan, Villarreal (loan), Mallorca and most recently Hercules, who play in Spain's second tier.
It has been reported West Brom's approach has been given short-shrift by Hercules, although it is thought the player has a €2million release clause in his contract.
New Hercules coach Esteban Vigo sees Farinos as a key part of his plans and has no intention of sanctioning a sale.
It remains to be seen whether Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo will step-up his pursuit over the next few weeks.
