Midfielder aiming to impress Todd in training

Midfielder Mark Convery is hoping to grasp the opportunity to join Darlington for the second time in his career. Convery is currently training with the Quakers and impressed during Saturday's pre-season friendly win over Billingham Town. He is available on a free transfer after leaving Cambridge United and previously spent four years as a Darlington player. The 28-year-old made over 80 appearances during his first stint with the League Two club and hopes he can convince manager Colin Todd to offer him a deal. "It is up to me to force their hand," Convery told the Northern Echo. "They have signed a lot of decent players in every position, so it's just up to me to get my head down and see where it takes me. "There's no rush. The lads who have already agreed stuff haven't signed yet. I just have to come in every day to training and try to impress. "I had an opportunity to go to a few clubs down south, but this was an opportunity I could not overlook."
