North End confirm winger has travelled to Scotland to discuss terms
Preston have confirmed that Simon Whaley has travelled to Scotland to have talks with Norwich.
Skysports.com revealed earlier on Wednesday that the
Canaries had agreed a fee with the Championship club for the winger.
Despite making a big impact at Deepdale in his first few seasons at the club the former Bury youngster struggled to make an impression last term.
The 24-year-old even found himself farmed out to Barnsley on loan for a month last year and it now seems the player is set to leave Preston permanently.
Whaley was left out of Preston's two pre-season friendly squads against Chorley and Bamber Bridge to allow him to travel to the Canaries' pre-season training camp north of the border.
"Preston North End can confirm that Simon Whaley has been granted permission to undertake talks with Norwich City after agreeing terms with the Canaries for the transfer of the winger," a statement from Preston read.
"Simon was left out of the squads to face Chorley and Bamber Bridge on Tuesday night and travelled up to meet Norwich manager Bryan Gunn at the Norfolk club's Scottish training camp.
"The club believes that talks will continue at the weekend when the League One side return from north of the border and if personal terms can be agreed, all the terms of a move would be in place."
