Barnsley set to bolster keeper options

Barnsley are closing in on the signing of former Darlington goalkeeper David Preece. The 32-year-old is set to pen a one-year deal with the Tykes, with the option to commit to a further 12 months next summer. Preece has spent the last six years plying his trade in Denmark, taking in spells at Silkeborg and OB Odense. Upon completing his move to Oakwell he will be expected to provide competition to Barnsley's current No.1 Luke Steele. "David has done very well training with us and has all the attributes needed to be a quality goalkeeper in the Championship," Tykes boss Simon Davey told the club's official website. "We're delighted to have brought him here to Oakwell. David has the experience and the ability to provide healthy competition for Luke Steele."
