Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws is keen to finalise Marcus Tudgay's future following interest from Burnley.
The Clarets have been keen on signing the 26-year-old striker, with their interest incensing the South Yorkshire outfit.
Tudgay has one year left on his Owls deal and Laws says the club remain committed to tying him down on a fresh long-term deal.
Laws has confirmed Wednesday will seek to finalise a contract extension with the striker when chairman Lee Strafford returns from holiday.
"My relationship with Marcus is very strong and it looks like we have come through a difficult situation where communication and the processes surrounding extending his contract had been strained to say the least," he told the club's
official website.
Interest calmed
"The alleged unsolicited interest from Burnley has calmed.
"I have talked to Marcus, whose attitude continues to satisfy me that he is 100 per cent committed to being the top class professional for which I have total respect.
"The chairman and I will be meeting with Marcus when Lee returns from holiday. We will be sitting down to see if we can reach an agreement on Marcus' contract extension."
Meanwhile, Laws has confirmed contract talks with Tommy Spurr and Richard Wood have been deferred until later in the year.
The club are keen to resolve the duo's long-term futures, however, the Owls are looking to finalise investment talks before making financial commitments.
Investment process
"Tommy and Richard are core to my plans for developing this team and everyone is happy to leave this until later this year, at which point we hope to have seen a conclusion regarding the club's investment process," he continued.
Finally, Laws has confirmed trialist Ryan France is set to join another club after rejecting their contract offer.
"Ryan did very well in the games and in training but there was always a concern about his knee and this is one of the reasons why we took our time with him.
"There was an issue at the Hartlepool game on Tuesday which made us get it checked and scanned, and this identified a problem.
"Our offer to Ryan reflected this risk because the club has a policy to protect themselves from any financial risks now and in the future."
