European champions discover hand fracture
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has completed his Barcelona medical, with the European champions discovering a fracture in his left hand.
The Sweden international striker is poised to complete his move to Camp Nou from Inter Milan later today, with the switch unlikely to be delayed by the results of the extensive examination.
Barca will part with 45million euros and Samuel Eto'o in exchange for Ibrahimovic, with Alexander Hleb expected to move to the Serie A side on loan.
The forward hurt his hand playing for Inter in a pre-season friendly against Chelsea in Los Angeles last week.
Treatment
Club doctor Ricard Pruna told the club's
official website: "We've extensively examined the injury to his left hand.
"We've seen that he has a fracture at the base of the second metacarpal of his left hand.
"It's a fracture that we have to study how to fix it so that he can play as soon as possible.
"This afternoon we will meet up and decide what treatment we will do."
Ibrahimovic has spent the last three seasons at Inter after moving from Juventus and last term he finished as top goalscorer in Serie A, netting 25 times as the Nerazzurri stormed to their fourth successive title.
Stress
Earlier, he launched a scathing attack on Italian football, claiming he is moving on because he is "fed up" with life in Serie A.
"When did I start thinking about moving somewhere else? In December, before Christmas," he is reported as saying on
Tuttomercatoweb.it. "The more I saw Barcelona play, the more I wanted to leave.
"Moreover, I was fed up of Italy, of Milan, of your football: you play badly, there's too much stress.
"In short, I needed something else.
"Did Inter pay me more than any other footballer? No comment."
