Goalkeeper joins on one-year deal

Stuart Nelson has become Mark McGhee's first signing as Aberdeen manager after joining the club on a free transfer. The goalkeeper was allowed to leave Norwich earlier this summer after 12 quiet months at Carrow Road. He has now linked up with the Dons on a one-year contract and will compete with Jamie Langfield for a place between the posts. Nelson, who is unlikely to feature in Thursday's Europa League qualifier against Sigma Olomouc, is thrilled to have made the move. He told the club's official website: "I am delighted to have signed for a club of the size and stature of Aberdeen. "My agent received a call from Mark McGhee at the end of last week and it's great to have sorted out a contract so quickly. "I'm already looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and can't wait to see the club in European action this week."
