Striker wants a return to old stomping ground
Lee Trundle has admitted he would love a return to his old club Swansea City after being told to find a new team.
Trundle has been shown the exit door at Bristol City after boss Gary Johnson told the striker he has no future at Ashton Gate, and a move to his old stomping ground would be his preferred option.
The 32-year-old spent a successful four years in South Wales, where 78 goals in 135 league games gave him legendary status with Swans fans.
And the striker revealed that he would return to the Liberty Stadium without a second thought.
"If Swansea were in for me, I would come back tomorrow," he told the
Evening Post.
"Everyone knows that Swansea is where I had the best spell of my career and coming back would be my first choice now.
"If I could pick any club to join, Swansea would be my first choice."
Rift
The Liverpool-born forward spent a spell on loan at League One side Leeds last season, but failed to make an impact at Elland Road.
While Gary Johnson believes the striker is past his prime, Swansea may be persuaded to take a chance on their former hero who is rumoured to demand a transfer fee of just £50,000.
"Myself and Gary Johnson have got different thoughts on things," Trundle added.
"I feel as though I am too good to be playing reserve-team football at my age. I know I can play first-team football and that is what I want to do."
Swansea manager Paulo Sousa is rumoured to be looking for a new centre-forward as his side prepares for their Championship opener against Leicester on Saturday.
Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez have followed Roberto Martinez to Premier League outfit Wigan, and the return of Trundle may quell some frustration amongst fans at the Liberty Stadium.
