Defender earns deal with trial displays

Port Vale have bolstered their ranks with the signing of former Hereford defender Kris Taylor. The 25-year-old, who can also play in midfield, left Edgar Street earlier in the summer and linked up with Vale on trial. He has played in several of their pre-season friendlies and has done enough to impress manager Micky Adams and earn a deal. The transfer has also been finalised in time for Taylor to be available for Saturday's season opener against Rochdale. "Kris has signed a short-term deal for us," Adams told the club's official website. "He is a naturally left-sided player, which to be honest we haven't got a great deal of. "He has fitted in nicely and he deserves the deal he has got. We will take a look at each other over the coming weeks and decide where we go form there."
