Craig Gordon admits George Burley faces a tough choice when deciding who will play in goal against Norway.
Scotland manager faces difficult selection call
Craig Gordon admits Scotland manager George Burley has a tough choice to make when deciding who will play between the sticks against Norway on Wednesday.
The injured goalkeeper is ruled out of the crucial World Cup qualifier after recovering from knee surgery, but says there is excellent back-up in his absence.
Burley will have to choose between Rangers' Neil Alexander and Cardiff's David Marshall, with regular reserve stopper Allan McGregor no longer considered for selection after the infamous 'Boozegate' affair.
"It really is a touch call and that's why the manager gets paid to make those decisions," Gordon said.
"I can't single one out and I wouldn't want to, that's a very difficult decision. But whoever plays, I'm sure they will do fine. We will be in safe hands regardless who plays.
"They are both top quality keepers and have been around and got experience now."
Confident
Scotland travel to bottom-of-the-group Norway knowing that a win in Oslo will be a step towards grabbing second place in the table and a likely play-off place.
And Sunderland keeper Gordon is confident whoever comes in will do well.
"There are absolutely no worries there, whoever gets the nod will go in and do a good job," he added.
"I share a room with David every time we are away and Neil went to the same high school as me so I know them both very well.
"I will probably speak to both the guys during the week and will definitely send them a text to wish them all the best. I just hope whoever goes in does well and contributes to a winning performance."
