Skipper suffers head injury in stalemate

Dean Lewington was the at the centre of concern after the MK Dons skipper sustained a serious head injury during the 0-0 draw with Swindon. In a scrappy game devoid of quality, left-back Lewington sustained a sickening head injury after clashing with fellow defender Mathias Doumbe. The injury saw Lewington lying motionless for 10 minutes as medical staff tended to him. The incident clearly affected both sets of players and in a game already lacking in any real chances, goalmouth incidents became almost completely absent after the injury as the game came to resemble a pre-season friendly. It was the away side who looked more likely to break the deadlock after the break with Jermaine Easter, Jemal Johnson and Jason Puncheon linking well but ultimately failing to test Swindon keeper David Lucas. Despite plenty of endeavour and vociferous support from the home crowd the game limped to its predictable goalless conclusion.
