Frugal Stoke boss planning business before window closes
Stoke boss Tony Pulis says he is working on four or five new signings, but insists he will not overspend.
Having comfortably avoided the drop last season, the Potters began the new campaign with a 2-0 victory over Burnley on Saturday.
However, Pulis believes the team needs improvement in all areas of the field and is hoping to clinch some bargain deals in the near future.
"We are desperately hanging on to four or five deals, but we will do it the right way," he told
The Sentinel.
"We haven't got billionaire oil barons running things here, so we have to be respectful to (chairman) Peter Coates and his family and do the right deals.
"We have seen what's happened to other clubs when they get into serious, serious trouble.
"I don't think Peter or his family want to see this club in trouble, so we have to be right in what we bring in.
"In every quarter, we are looking to improve - and that's no disrespect to our players."
Dean Whitehead remains Stoke's only signing so far this summer.
