Serie A giants set to land England ace on second 'timeshare' deal
Sky Sports News understands AC Milan remain in 'pole position' to re-sign David Beckham on a loan basis from LA Galaxy in January.
Negotiations have been on-going since Milan's pre-season tour in Los Angeles in July and
Sky Sports News' chief news reporter Bryan Swanson understands the most likely scenario is another 'timeshare' agreement, which will see Beckham play in Serie A from January before returning to LA Galaxy after the World Cup in South Africa.
Sources have told Swanson that Beckham remains committed to his career in America, despite a difficult season, and Milan remain the favoured club to help maintain his match fitness for any place in Fabio Capello's England squad.
LA Galaxy have won twice and drawn once in four competitive games since Beckham re-joined them last month although the former England captain was sent off in the clash with Seattle Sounders last weekend.
Galaxy also drew with AC Milan in a friendly while a record crowd of 93,137 watched Beckham and his teammates narrowly lose to Barcelona in an exhibition game at the Rose Bowl.
Commentators have noted how more fans have been supportive of the midfielder since a minority booed him on his MLS return.
Meanwhile, Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that the Italian giants will not be signing any more players this summer.
The Rossoneri have added four fresh faces to their squad during the transfer window, with Thiago Silva arriving from Fluminense, Oguchi Onyewu from Standard Liege, Flavio Roma from Monaco and Klaas Jan Huntelaar from Real Madrid.
"Our market is closed," said Berlusconi.
"Milan will have to find the strength to win with the players it has."
