Teenager signs his first professional contract at Pools

Teenage striker Billy Greulich says it is a 'dream come true' to have signed for Hartlepool United. The 18-year-old has joined the League One outfit after impressing boss Chris Turner on a recent trial spell with the club. The Brandon forward played in pre-season games at Garforth, Gateshead, Horden and York, scoring two goals. "I could tell I had made an impact because I scored two goals and I knew I had a good chance of being signed," Greulich told the club's official website. This is the first professional contract for the youngster, who has previously been on the books of Watford and Luton Town, as well as the Academies at Sunderland and Middlesbrough.

Difficult

He added: "It was difficult coming in because I didn't know anyone here and when I was at both Sunderland and Middlesbrough, I had a lot of friends. "When I came here, everyone was older than me and I didn't know anyone but I was determined to succeed." Greulich now intends to make the most of his opportunity, and hopes to get as much first team football as possible in the season ahead. He said: "I am delighted to sign a contract here - it's a dream come true really.
Fantastic club
"This is a fantastic club with a fantastic set-up, everyone is so friendly and everyone gets on with each other. "It's been brilliant so far - I've enjoyed every minute of being here." He added: "Hopefully I can prove to the fans what I can do - basically I am here to try as much as I can to get into the first team and to try and move the Club forward in the process. "I want to improve myself as a player while also helping Hartlepool United."
