Assistant leaves post after Lambert arrival
Norwich City have confirmed that assistant manager Ian Butterworth has resigned from the club.
Butterworth took charge of the side for their games against Exeter and Brentford but his decision to step down comes in the wake of Paul Lambert's appointment as permanent boss on Tuesday.
Lambert takes over from the sacked Bryan Gunn who had his contract terminated following the Canaries' 7-1 opening day thrashing by Colchester.
"Things haven't worked out during my time here in difficult circumstances and I obviously felt the new coaching team wouldn't want me hanging about," Butterworth told the club's
official website.
"I have therefore taken the decision that it is right for all parties for me to move on.
"I wish everybody at the club every success in the future. Hopefully the boys can quickly find their feet and start getting improved results."
Butterworth made 293 appearances for Norwich after joining in 1987 from Nottingham Forest and only rejoined the club as Gunn's assistant in February.
