Swedish club hold discussions with 'a couple of clubs'
Kalmar expect Rasmus Elm's future to be decided by the start of next week after confirming that they are in talks with two clubs.
The Sweden midfielder was linked with Manchester City and Everton earlier in the summer, but AZ Alkmaar and Bayern Leverkusen are now thought to be frontrunners.
Kalmar said on Wednesday that a conclusion to the transfer saga could be reached by the middle of next week, but a final decision is now expected ahead of that schedule.
The Swedish club are holding discussions with a pair of interested parties as they attempt to agree a transfer for Elm.
Interest
Kalmar sporting director Svante Samuelsson told
Aftonbladet: "We have a dialogue with a couple of clubs, but I don't want to get into the details.
"Something will happen by the beginning of next week."
AZ boss Ronald Koeman remains interested, saying: "Elm is a player that we've wanted for a long time.
"He has known about our interest for a long time. He would have a good future at AZ."
Leverkusen, though, claim they are in no rush to sign the 21-year-old, with coach Jupp Heynckes saying: "Elm is a question for later, either this winter or next season."
