Clarets ace unfazed by shock victory over United

Robbie Blake insists no-one at Burnley was overly surprised by their midweek victory against Manchester United. The Clarets caused one of the biggest upsets in Premier League history on Wednesday night when they downed the reigning champions 1-0 at Turf Moor. Blake was the hero of the hour, lashing home an unstoppable 19th-minute volley to settle the tie in the home side's favour. Burnley could be forgiven for losing concentration as they bask in the glory of the memorable result, but the winning mentality instilled by boss Owen Coyle has ensured that will not be the case. "I've watched the replay of the goal about four times and I still can't believe it," said 33-year-old frontman Blake. "The manager was very upbeat before the game and that is how he always is. Anything is possible in football.

Motivation

"He is so positive it is unbelievable and I think it rubs off on the players. "We go into games thinking we have played in the Premier League for 10 years. He has a good knack of doing things like that and hopefully he can keep motivating us towards more points this season. "He has a belief in the players that we can do well. When he is drumming it in all week it does sit there in the back of your head. "If you don't believe an upset can be caused there is no point in going out there." Blake has also called on his team-mate to leave the memories of the United game in the past as they prepare to resume top-flight duties against Everton this weekend. "It is a great start for us but we are going to keep our feet on the ground," he added.
Problems
"We have beaten the champions but it is only three points and there is a long way to go before we can start celebrating. "The manager won't let anyone get above their station. There are 36 games to go and it is going to be very difficult. "We couldn't believe the press we had been getting after the Stoke game, which we dominated but for two set-pieces. "That's football - you get written off and then you come back with a good performance against United but the next defeat we will be getting written off again. "We are happy with ourselves and we believe in ourselves because we know we will cause teams problems in this division. "But we are going to have to hit that standard against Everton again on Sunday."
