Argentina boss taking no chances
Diego Maradona's selections for Argentina's upcoming World Cup qualifiers have sprung no surprises.
The South American giants are currently struggling to ensure their safe passage through to next summer's finals after enduring a mixed qualifying campaign so far.
Next up for Maradona's men is a meeting with arch-rivals Brazil on 5th September, before they face Paraguay four days later.
Sitting fourth in the standings with just four games to go, Argentina know they can ill-afford any slip ups in the forthcoming double-header.
With that in mind, Maradona has opted to call upon his strongest possible group of overseas-based stars.
Argentina squad (overseas-based) for 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Paraguay:
Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero (AZ Alkmaar), Juan Pablo Carrizo (Real Zaragoza), Mariano Andujar (Catania)
Defenders: Nicolas Burdisso, Javier Zanetti (both Inter Milan), Gabriel Heinze (Marseille), Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle United), Nicolas Pareja (Espanyol)
Midfielders: Javier Mascherano (Liverpool), Fernando Gago (Real Madrid), Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid), Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle United), Jesus Datolo (Napoli)
Forwards: Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid), Carlos Tevez (Manchester City), Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli), Diego Milito (Inter Milan), Lisandro Lopez (Lyon)
Maradona is expected to name his home-based players next week.
