Thierry Henry has been recalled to the France squad ahead of two crucial World Cup qualifying clashes.

Still no place for Vieira ahead of crunch clashes

Barcelona front-man Thierry Henry has been recalled to the France squad for their World Cup doubleheader with Romania and Serbia. Henry missed his country's narrow 1-0 win over the Faroe Islands earlier in August with an Achilles problem but has now regained full fitness. However, national coach Raymond Domenech has once again left out Inter Milan central midfielder Patrick Vieira. The former France captain was brought off at half-time during Inter's draw with Bari on Sunday and the lack of playing time has once again affected his international career.

Crucial

Les Blues face a crucial week at the start of September if they are to retain any hopes of automatic qualification for next year's tournament in South Africa. After hosting Romania at the Stade de France, they face a trip to Belgrade where they will try and halt the charge of Group Seven leaders Serbia. France are currently five points behind the Serbs but have the benefit of a game in hand over Radomir Antic's side. France squad: Cedric Carrasso (Bordeaux), Hugo Lloris (Lyon), Steve Mandanda (Marseille), Eric Abidal (Barcelona), Gael Clichy (Arsenal), Julien Escude (Sevilla), Patrice Evra (Manchester United), Rod Fanni (Rennes), William Gallas (Arsenal), Bacary Sagna (Arsenal), Sebastien Squillaci (Sevilla), Alou Diarra (Bordeaux), Lassana Diarra (Real Madrid), Abou Diaby (Arsenal), Yoann Gourcuff (Bordeaux), Florent Malouda (Chelsea), Jeremy Toulalan (Lyon), Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea), Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Andre-Pierre Gignac (Toulouse), Thierry Henry (Barcelona), Loic Remy (Nice), Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich).
