German defender delighted to be back in the Premier League

Robert Huth has branded his move from Middlesbrough to Stoke City as a 'no brainer'. The German defender completed a switch to the Potters, alongside Boro team-mate Tuncay Sanli, on Thursday. Having tasted relegation to the Championship with the North East outfit last season, Huth admits the lure of a return to the Premier League was too good to turn down. With the 2010 World Cup at the back of his mind, the former Chelsea centre-half accepts that he must be playing at the highest possible level to stand any chance of being involved for his country. "I am grateful to Stoke for the opportunity to play in the Premier League so soon again," he told the club's official website. "It really was a no brainer to come here once I found out that this club wanted to sign me." Meanwhile, Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes feels the signing of Huth goes to show how ambitious the Potters have become. "This is a fantastic signing for the club because Robert gives us international pedigree and Premier League experience as well," he said. "Our manager Tony Pulis has been looking to strengthen the squad with the intention of taking us to an even higher level after we achieved a magnificent 12th place in the Premier League last season, and we are confident Robert is the type of player who can help us achieve that aim."
