Australia international moves to Holland
Sheffield United midfielder David Carney has joined FC Twente, the Championship club have announced.
The Australia international spent the end of last season on loan at Norwich after failing to earn a regular place in the plans of Blades boss Kevin Blackwell.
Carney has now left Bramall Lane on a permanent basis as FC Twente manager Steve McClaren secures his services for an undisclosed fee.
The lure of Europa League football is understood to have been a factor, with the 25-year-old keen to bolster his international credentials ahead of the 2010 World Cup.
Carney, who can also play in defence, joined United in 2007 on a three-year deal after impressing while on trial from Sydney FC.
