Sollied leaves Dutch club after poor start to season
Heerenveen have confirmed the club have parted company with Norwegian coach Trond Sollied.
The 50-year-old joined Heerenveen in March 2008 and went on to lead the side to victory in the Dutch Cup.
But a disappointing start to the new campaign, where they have won just once in five league matches, has prompted Heerenveen to sever ties with Sollied.
"SC Heerenveen and their coach Trond Sollied have today, during a meeting, decided to end their co-operation with immediate effect," read a statement on the club's
official website.
"The board regrets the outcome but considers it inevitable. They blame the breakdown on cultural differences between the club and the coach.
"The club would like to thank Trond Sollied for what he has done here. He is, and will remain, the first coach in Heerenveen's history to win a trophy - in the form of the KNVB Beker."
Jan de Jonge will coach the first team on a temporary basis until a successor is appointed.
