Defender's family unable to settle in Scotland after move

Defender Izzy Iriekpen has revealed family reasons were behind his exit from Hamilton Academical after just two months with the club. The former Bristol City centre half, who was released by the Robins in July, signed for the Scottish Premier League side this summer in Hamilton's second attempt at securing his services. The 27-year-old signed a two-year deal at New Douglas Park playing just two league games before asking to leave for family reasons and the player released an official statement on Monday. "It is with regret that I must announce my departure from Hamilton Academical FC," read the statement on the club's official website. "I have sincerely enjoyed the last two months with the team and was looking forward to calling Scotland home. "But, I did not realise this move would result in such hardship for my family. After explaining my personal situation to manager Billy Reid, he, Hamilton's front office and I, have agreed to an amicable separation. "I want to thank the Accies for giving me the opportunity to play for this football club and am grateful for having been named captain for two games after such a short stay." He added: "I wish the lads, and Hamilton's loyal fans, all the luck in the world."
