Striker faces short spell out
Port Vale manager Micky Adams has confirmed that James Lawrie has had surgery to remove his appendix.
The highly-rated young striker, who spent time on trial with Everton over the summer, is only expected to be sidelined for about a fortnight.
But he will not be able to link up with the Northern Ireland Under 21 squad and is also set to miss a couple of League Two games.
"James had been having a few problems with his appendix and unfortunately they have had to remove it," Adams told the club's
official website.
"He will be out for a short time but the most important thing is he recovers fully from his operation."
