Akinfenwa back for Cobblers; Bees wait on Leach

Northampton hope to have striker Adebayo Akinfenwa back in their line-up, while Barnet are sweating on Dan Leach. Akinfenwa - who saw a move to Swansea fall through on Monday - has missed the last two games with a shin injury but is back in training and poised to partner Steve Guinan in attack. Midfielder Luke Guttridge has yet to feature this season due to a knee problem but he has started training and has been pencilled in for a reserve match early next week. Wing-back Liam Davis remains sidelined as he recovers from a broken foot sustained in pre-season while utility-man John Curtis is out with a calf problem. Striker Billy McKay is also absent as he is away on international duty with the Northern Ireland Under-21 side.

Bees team news

Barnet manager Ian Hendon is waiting on the fitness of defender Leach before naming his squad. Leach missed the 2-0 Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Millwall in midweek with an ankle injury and has been sent for a scan. Should the Australian miss out then Clovis Kamdjo will again partner Ismail Yakubu in the heart of defence. Assistant manager Gary Breen is still out with a knee problem while left-back Kenny Gillet remains sidelined with his hamstring injury. John O'Flynn will partner 40-year-old Paul Furlong in attack while captain Micah Hyde will return in midfield after he was rested for the cup win. Hendon spent 18 months as a player at Sixfields during which time he won promotion out of League Two.
