With World Cup qualifiers taking place all over the globe, we guide you through who will be in South Africa.

2010 qualifiers shaping up

With World Cup qualifiers taking place all over the globe in the coming week, we guide you through who could be on their way to South Africa. There are currently six nations already confirmed as finalists at 2010, which includes hosts South Africa. The five countries to qualify so far are Australia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea and Holland. But those numbers could be swelled by a further 16 countries over the coming days, and we look through each continental section to see who will be booking their flights for next summer.

Europe

Group A could see Denmark make the finals, but they would need to beat both Sweden and Portugal over the next week, with Hungary failing to win both of their games. Slovakia will book their place at the finals if they win both their Group 3 games over the coming days. Germany could qualify from Group 4 with victory over Azerbaijan, but only if Russia lose their two games. And with those matches being against Leichtenstein and Wales respectively, Guus Hiddink's side look very much still in the reckoning. If Spain win both their Group 5 games, and Bosnia do not win their two, then the European champions will book their place at the finals. England will qualify from Group 6 if they beat Croatia at Wembley next week. Group 7 will see Serbia qualify if they beat France next week and the French fail to beat Romania at the weekend. Italy will qualify in Group 8 if they win their two games and Republic of Ireland are beaten in Cyprus.

Asia

The group stages are already completed in Asia, with Australia, Japan, North Korea and South Korea all securing their places in South Africa. There is still one qualification place up for grabs in Asia, with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia due to meet in a two-legged play-off over the next few days. The winner will be through to the finals, whilst the runner-up will enter a play-off against the Oceania section winners New Zealand later in the year.

Africa

Gabon - who have won their opening two games in Group A - could seal their first ever appearance as the World Cup finals, if they win both games against Cameroon over the coming days. Ghana are emerging as real powerhouses once again in African football and they could, and should, book their place at the finals this weekend. If they beat Sudan in Group D and Mali fail to beat Benin, then the Black Stars will be assured of qualification. Group E has seen Ivory Coast dominate so far, and they will book their place in the finals if they beat Burkina Faso at home, and Guinea fail to win.

North & Central America

If the top three in Concacaf, Costa Rica, Honduras and United States all win their two games coming up they will all qualify for the finals. None of the leading contenders are playing each other over the next week and if they all secure six points apiece, that will be enough to take them through. Mexico, in fourth, play Costa Rica and Honduras, and if they could win either or both - then that would put them right back into contention.

South America

Brazil will be the first South Americas to qualify for the finals if they beat arch-rivals Argentina.
