Birmingham striker sidelined with ankle problem

Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome could be out of action for at least another month with an ankle injury. Jerome suffered the setback in City's opening match of the Barclays Premier League season against Portsmouth. He had been expected to return in two to three weeks but damage to the ankle is more serious than initially feared. Blues manager Alex McLeish could now be without the former Cardiff ace until early October. He said: "Jerome has had scans on the troubled area and the news is not great. "It's enough to keep him out for maybe another month. It was one of those ligament-type injuries. "He got a kick on his ankle and heel. It's a blow as Cameron was looking to show us that he's maturing into a Premier League player."
