You have voted in your hundreds for the best player to wear a Crystal Palace shirt and the winner is ....Ian Wright. We asked fans of each of the 92 English League teams and Scottish Premier League sides to nominate their all-time favourite footballers and the prolific Ian Wright topped the poll. Much loved striker Dougie Freedman came in second while the talented Attilio Lombardo finished third in the voting.

Ian Wright

Palace plucked Wright from non-league football promptly signing him just three months short of his 22nd birthday in 1985. Despite arriving late to professional football Wright quickly made up for lost time, scoring nine goals in his first season to finish as the club's second top goalscorer. However it was the 1988/89 season which saw the striker really make his mark and forge a lethal partnership with Mark Bright as the Eagles reached the top flight via the play-offs. Wright will probably be best remembered for his double after coming off the bench in the FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley to help force a replay after the scores finished 3-3 although Palace went on to lose 1-0. In all, the frontman scored 117 goals in 277 games for the club in his six-year spell putting him third in the all-time Palace top scorers list.

Dougie Freedman

The striker had two spells with Palace with his second stint only coming to an end in May 2008 after switching to Southend. Freedman first joined the Eagles in 1995 from Barnet and managed to score the quickest hat-trick in Palace's history against Grimsby in 1996. The frontman remained for two seasons before moving on to Wolves. However Freedman returned in 2000 and that season promptly made his most important contribution to the club when he scored an 87th minute winner against Stockport to ensure Palace stayed in the Championship on the final day of the season.

Attilio Lombardo

Charismatic Lombardo was one of the most surprising transfer coups of the decade when he joined from Juventus in summer 1997. The midfielder may have only stayed for 18 months but during that time he wowed the crowds at Selhurst Park. Unfortunately his efforts weren't enough to keep the club in the top flight when they were relegated in 1998.
