Hartlepool v Wycombe preview

Pools pair pushing for start; Hunt could return for Chairboys

Armann Bjornsson and Adam Boyd have given Hartlepool boss Chris Turner a welcome selection headache for Saturday's home clash with Wycombe. Although James Brown and summer signing Denis Behan each produced fine strikes in Pools' 3-0 win at Oldham last week, Bjornsson and Boyd have both impressed in the reserves. Boyd scored a stunning hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Grimsby in midweek, with one of the goals expertly set up by Iceland international Bjornsson. Boyd has made just one league start so far this season while Bjornsson is yet to make his Pools debut since his summer move from SK Brann. Defender Ben Clark is expected to be out, though, having suffered a groin strain during the half-time warm-up at Oldham. Ritchie Humphreys is edging closer to fitness following an Achilles injury but will not be involved against the Chairboys.

Wycombe team news

Manager Peter Taylor could give defender Lewis Hunt his first appearance of the season after being sidelined through a recurrence of a foot injury. The right-back played 70 minutes for the reserves' 1-1 draw with Watford on Tuesday night and is set to feature on the bench. Winger Kevin Betsy was given 90 minutes for the reserves and could be handed his first start since returning to the club on loan from Southend. Midfielders Tommy Doherty (ankle) and Matty Bloomfield (broken nose and cheekbone) remain sidelined, however, as Taylor looks for a first point on the road this season. Newly-promoted Wycombe are third-bottom of League One after six games but victory could take them up to mid-table.
