Accies captain optimistic on comeback
Hamilton captain Alex Neil is targeting an early return from injury following hip surgery over the summer.
It had been thought the 28-year-old midfielder would be unavailable to manager Billy Reid until late November.
However, Neil has started light jogging and is optimistic he could be back in action by the end of next month at the earliest.
"With the way things have been going, I'm hoping to be back at the start of November or, dare I say it, even the end of October," said Neil.
"It all depends on how I react in my recovery. I've already started doing light running. I'm just taking it step by step and the hip has reacted well so far."
Born leader
Reid has praised youngster James McArthur for excelling with the captain's armband in Neil's absence.
"James has been fantastic in that role," said Reid. "He was great against Rangers and I thought he was the best player on the park in the win over Hibs last weekend.
"He's a born leader, a fantastic player. He was vice-captain when he was 19. I saw then he was going to be a leader and with Alex out I thought he'd be right for the job.
"He's been inspirational and has really stepped up and taken on the mantle. I can guarantee he will move on to bigger and better things than Hamilton Accies."
