Skysports.com takes a closer look at Sol Campbell's career following his surprise Notts County exit five weeks into a five-year contract. 1974: Born Newham, September 18. 1992: Signs professional terms with Tottenham and scores on Spurs debut against Chelsea. 1996: May - Wins first England cap in a 3-0 victory over Hungary. 1998: June - Has a goal disallowed against Argentina in the second round of the World Cup. England go out on penalties. 1999: Wins League Cup with Spurs who beat Leicester 1-0 at Wembley. 2001: Turns down new contract at Tottenham and makes controversial move to Arsenal on a free transfer.

2002: Scores for England in 1-1 draw with Sweden at the World Cup but Sven-Goran Eriksson's team are eliminated by Brazil in the quarter-finals. 2003: April 16 - Sent off against Manchester United and is ruled out of the last three league games of the season and also the FA Cup final, where Arsenal beat Southampton. 2004: May - Part of the Arsenal side which wins the Premiership title, going the whole of the 38-match league season unbeaten. June - Last-gasp goal against Portugal in the quarter-finals of Euro 2004 is controversially disallowed for a foul on the goalkeeper. England lose on penalties to the hosts. 2005: January 21 - Signs a new contract with Arsenal. May - Left out of FA Cup final side as Arsenal beat Manchester United on penalties.
Nightmare
2006: February - Leaves Highbury at half-time after being substituted following a nightmare first half in the 3-2 defeat to West Ham. Subsequently given time off by Arsenal. Gunners team-mate Robert Pires claims Campbell had "a big worry on the private side" but Campbell's solicitor insists the player will return to training in a couple of days. May 18 - Scores first Champions League goal to give Arsenal the lead in the final against Barcelona in Paris but match ends in 2-1 defeat. August 8 - Completes transfer to Portsmouth, signing a two-year contract. 2007: August 17 - Wins England recall ahead of friendly against Germany. Does not play but wins four caps later in the year, against Estonia, Russia, Austria and finally Croatia - who beat England 3-2 at Wembley to deny Steve McClaren's team a place in Euro 2008. 2008: September 28 - Suffers racist and homophobic abuse from Tottenham fans during the Premier League clash at Fratton Park. Eleven fans are later arrested, of whom six are subsequently found guilty of indecent chanting and given football banning orders, and five are cautioned. 2009: August 25 - Signs a five-year deal with League Two club Notts County after leaving Portsmouth at the end of his contract. September 23 - Notts County announce Campbell has left the club by mutual consent.
