Bochum search for new boss

Bochum say caretaker coach Frank Heinemann is not a leading contender to take the job on a permanent basis.

Heinemann not favourite to stay on in role

Bochum general manager Thomas Ernst admits caretaker coach Frank Heinemann is not a leading contender to take the job on a permanent basis. The Bundesliga strugglers sacked Marcel Koller after last weekend's 3-2 defeat by Mainz left Bochum second from bottom of the table after six games. Heinemann has been handed the reins on an interim basis and presided over a 3-0 reverse against Schalke in the German Cup in midweek. And, while not completely dismissing Heinemann's chances of keeping the post, Ernst confirmed the club are currently looking elsewhere for Koller's replacement. "I am not going to say (Frank Heinemann) has no chance to become our manager, but at this point it is not our plan to see him remain in that role," Ernst told Bild. "We are looking for a new boss. "We have yet to talk to any potential new manager, but it is a well-known fact that we have some wishes. "However, you are always depending on whether these wishes have the chance to turn into reality. "There are a few names on our short-list, of course. We have to be sure we are signing the right person."
