Veteran striker joins Notts County
Notts County have made veteran striker Ade Akinbiyi their latest signing as they target promotion from League Two.
The Magpies have grabbed the headlines following the summer takeover of the club by Munto Finance and the appointment of former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson as director of football.
A big-money move for former Arsenal and Tottenham defender Sol Campbell ended in disappointment when the veteran centre-back walked out on his five-year deal after just one game.
Now the club have moved to bolster their pool of strikers with the much-travelled Akinbiyi making the move to Meadow Lane.
Latest signing
The 34-year-old arrives as a free agent, having spent time with Houston Dynamo in the USA.
Akinbiyi has played for a host of clubs during his career, including Gillingham, Bristol City, Wolves, Leicester, Burnley and Sheffield United.
He has joined on a deal until the end of the season but is unlikely to feature in manager Ian McParland's squad in Tuesday's trip to Lincoln City.
A statement on the club's
official website read: "Akinbiyi will add further attacking options and is the latest signing in what has been a busy summer on the transfer market for Notts County."
