Kerr replaces Meldrum at Fir Park

Motherwell have appointed former Celtic and Wigan Athletic keeper Stewart Kerr as their new goalkeeping coach. Manager Jim Gannon has been looking for a replacement for Colin Meldrum, who followed ex-boss Mark McGhee to Aberdeen. Kerr, who made 33 SPL appearances for Celtic between 1993 and 2001, is delighted to have been handed a post in Gannon's backroom staff. The 34-year-old previously worked with Airdrie United and is relishing the prospect of working with the likes of John Ruddy, Michael Fraser, Sebastian Kosiorowski, Ross Hyslop and Shaun Thomson.

Delighted

"I'm delighted to be here," Kerr told his club's official website. "I've been impressed by everyone at the club. "The management team in particular are very through, very meticulous in everything they do. "I was previously with Airdrie United and whilst I am very thankful to Kenny Black for giving me the opportunity, this is a massive step up. "There's a better standard of player and from that, obviously, a better standard of goalkeeper."
