Jarrett set for Vale bow and Edgar to make Cherries debut

Port Vale could hand a debut to Jason Jarrett when they entertain high-flying Bournemouth. The nomadic midfielder, who has played for no less than 13 clubs prior to joining the Valiants, signed a short-term contract until December 28 earlier this week. The deal was not ratified in time for Jarrett to feature in the 2-2 draw against Accrington on Tuesday, but the 30-year-old may start this weekend, with Doug Loft the most likely to miss out. Although his side have now gone four league games without a win, manager Micky Adams is unlikely to make many more changes to his starting line-up. Joe Anyon is closing in on full fitness following six months on the sidelines with a broken leg, but the goalkeeper is unlikely to displace young shot-stopper Chris Martin just yet. Meanwhile, centre-half Luke Prosser has returned from a loan spell at Blue Square Premier side Salisbury.

Cherries news

Bournemouth will hand a debut to new loan signing Anthony Edgar when they make the trip to face Port Vale. The Cherries were given special permission to sign the midfielder on a one-month loan deal from West Ham, despite a transfer embargo, because of their lengthy injury list. On that list is Sammy Igoe, who is missing with a knee injury and Ryan Garry, who has been diagnosed with swine flu. Marvin Bentley (broken hand) is also out, while Jeff Goulding (ankle) has returned to light training and hopes to play in the reserves next week. Jo Partington is doubtful with a groin injury and Mark Molesley will miss out with a thigh problem. The Cherries travel to Vale aiming to get back to winning ways after seeing their five-match winning streak come to an end with a 2-1 defeat at Hereford on Tuesday.
