Lyon doctor Emmanuel Ohrant has stressed that Bafetimbi Gomis is not suffering any serious health problems.
Gomis has had a series of blackouts since joining Lyon over the summer and he fainted again while training with the France national team earlier this week.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas voiced his concerns for the player after the latest incident but Ohrant has offered words of reassurance.
He maintains that Gomis had the same problems during his time at St Etienne but is still fit to play at the highest level.
Ohrant added that Gomis will continue to be monitored carefully even though tests have never revealed a serious underlying complaint.
"Since 14-years-old, Bafe has been the subject of such vasovagal episodes, comparable to a drop in blood pressure, as a lot of people could experience," said Ohrant.
"At St Etienne, he used to faint. We got his whole medical file, and I can testify very exhaustive medical examinations have been made, and he has been put under extreme monitoring.
"The final conclusion is there is no contraindication to high level sport.
"Finally, I know he is perfectly healthy and he knows it too and we are going on our research.
"We meet heart specialists in Lyon. People are more worried than he is."
