Goalkeeper to play through the pain barrier
Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has revealed he plans to undergo knee surgery in December.
Buffon has been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks and helped Italy qualify for the World Cup with a draw against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.
The 31-year-old will sit out Wednesday's final qualifier with Cyprus to rest the injury, but Buffon will put off the operation to help Juve during a crucial period for the side.
"If I make certain movements I feel some pain, but I'm trying to keep going as long as possible because there's the Champions league under way and we meet Inter (Milan) in early December," Buffon told
Gazzetta dello Sport.
"We'll see if I get through, I would like to."
