Shay Given and Kevin Kilbane are set to become Republic of Ireland centurions as Giovanni Trapattoni's side conclude their World Cup qualifying campaign against Montenegro.
Croke Park is the setting for what should be an emotional night for Given, who will captain his country after Trapattoni elected against resting the Manchester City custodian.
Given is a booking away from a suspension that would rule him out of next month's play-off first leg, while Kilbane should figure at left-back to rack up 100 caps of his own.
Italy's last-gasp leveller at the weekend ended Ireland's hope of automatic qualification for South Africa, but the manner in which they took the game to the world champions in what was an entertaining 2-2 draw is cause for optimism.
"We have shown against Italy, and also against Italy in Bari, we can play against any opponent," said Trapattoni.
"Many Irish people have offered their congratulations on the game and also in Italy, many, many, many people - not just friends - have congratulated us for how we played the game against Italy.
"We have convinced them that we are a team that gets results."
Had Ireland kept hold of a 2-1 advantage they took with just three minutes left they would have moved to within a point of the Azzurri ahead of Wednesday's final qualifier.
While Given will start, Trapattoni has already decided that he will not take a similar risk with Aiden McGeady and Keith Andrews, who are also both on bookings.
Stoke schemer Glenn Whelan misses out with suspension which means recalls for midfield duo Liam Miller and Martin Rowlands. Stephen Hunt and Damien Duff will flank them down either channel.
Montenegro's campaign has been one of disappointment as they sit in fifth place from six, after taking just eight points to date.
Possible Ireland team: Given, O'Shea, Dunne, St Ledger, Kilbane, Duff, Rowlands, Miller, Hunt, Doyle, Keane
