Full-back out for three months after hip surgery

Leeds United full-back Ben Parker has undergone a hip operation and will be sidelined for the next three months. Parker has not played for the League One leaders since suffering a hamstring injury in the first half of the 2-1 win over Exeter City on the opening day of the season. He aggravated the injury in a behind-closed-doors game late last month and the problem has subsequently been traced to one of his hips. The 21-year-old has now had surgery to fix the issue and Whites boss Simon Grayson confirmed the left-back will not return until 2010. "Ben's had an operation and he's going to be out for three months," Grayson told the Yorkshire Post. "That's the timescale we've been given and he's moving around on a pair of crutches at the moment. "We're going to be without him for a large part of the season, but it needed doing. Hopefully now we can get him properly sorted."
